Local Heavens, K.M. Fajardo

i haven’t read ‘Gatsby’ since high school & this made me feel like i was back in english class again devouring this book for the first time. i thought this was well-written & i love the cyberpunk universe this was set in.

i was hoping for more romance though. the longing was there but when nick & jay finally smooch gatsby dies the next day

anyway – great debut! i can’t wait to see what this author does in the future.

Lonely Crowds, Stephanie Wambugu

this was not what i was expecting but it was fine? while i could (unfortunately) relate to the kind of “friendship” ruth had with maria, i wish i knew who she was as a person OUTSIDE of maria. she felt so hollow & kinda…robotic? was this the point? what was the point of this book actually? the last 15-20% is actually bonkers like this was such a long depressive journey only to end like that 😩
